Wade Chapel AME Church - Welcome

Welcome

Please let me welcome you, to our Web Site and invite you to visit us, the Wade Chapel AME Church family of Hillsboro Texas. We are indeed a family living in love and working to develop and maintain a relationship with God our Father, Christ our Redeemer, and Man our brother in the tradition of the African Methodist Episcopal Church..

We provide an atmosphere where you are able to "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" [Philippians 2:12b]. That salvation, rooted in our relationship with God first; and then with our fellowman. As Jesus taught us in Luke 10:29-37, we are neighbors with all humanity whether they look like us or not.

Relationships thrive in an atmosphere that hopes for the best in us and forgives the worst of us. The church is about relationships, about community. Community in the sense of caring and support for all its members.

The church

The church stands in stark contrast to things in the world that can beat you down. The church says there is more than me, more than now, more than I; I am not the center of the universe. God is a god of history--of which all of us are a part.

The church offers hope to the hopeless and help to the helpless. You are not alone, you are a part of community. You are able to give and receive grace, give and receive strength in time of need. As the writer to the Hebrew Diaspora said: "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need [Hebrews 4:16]." The church is that vehicle established by Jesus, the Christ to teach the world that through faith in Him we have access to the throne of grace (Matthew 16:18).

Wade Chapel AME Church is a local congregation that is living out, as best we can, the purpose of the church within the community of Hillsboro Texas and through the Internet minister to the greater community.

Acceptance is found in the church . . .

Everyone longs for acceptance. In the world you may feel you have to pretend or hide or do certain things. But you can always look forward to going home to the church where you are accepted by people who know you as you are. The church is like a family. In fact, the components of the church is the family unit as established by God, Himself (Ephesians 5:18-32). With the family as its building blocks the church is like a greater family unit.

Acceptance in the church is not dependent on how you measure up. You have a place where you don't have to be afraid to share your fears or hopes or insecurities. In the church you can look for answers to your deepest questions.

An atmosphere of genuine acceptance is based on a proper understanding of our inherent value before God, and therefore the appreciation we ought to have for one another. We can accept each other because God is holy, not because we are holy. God loves us because we are His.

And because of His love for us, He has responded in grace (unmerited favor) and we have freedom to respond to each other in grace. God never accepted individuals because they achieved His expectations and we don't have to pressure each other to live up to our expectations.

The church is not filled with perfect people . . .

The church is not filled with perfect people but people striving to perfection in the Man, Christ Jesus: "But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, . . . . For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified (cleaned or perfected). (Hebrews 10:12, 14)." We are therefore covered by His grace while being perfected.

No church can live up to everything it wants to be. It is a delicate balance between holding up the standards of God and yet standing true to the heart of the message - the grace and mercy of God. People want a place where there is mercy, but at the same place of solid foundation. That is the balance, the goal. That's what we at Wade Chapel AME Church want to provide. Come and find your place in this church family.

By the grace and mercy of God, Pastor Baker and the entire Wade Chapel AME Church family welcome You!
